Senior Manager/Supervisor

Our 300+ member companies produce more than 90 percent of the residential and commercial air conditioning, heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment made in North America. Through our certification program, standards, advocacy, and other activities, we strive to help save energy, improve productivity, and ensure a better environment.

AHRI is seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering to join our Certifications team. The Senior Manager, Engineering is primarily responsible for the management of assigned HVACR industry sectors and associated certification programs. Duties include developing executable plans for the successful completion of certification tests, conducting Committee and Working Group meetings, managing certification programs, communicating with member companies and the HVACR industry, and overseeing the development of assigned AHRI standards. The Senior Manager, Engineering will supervise a team of Program Engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Management Functions

  • Mentor engineers and ensure their understanding of company rules and procedures.
  • Monitor and guide engineers’ daily work and preparation for AHRI events/meetings.
  • Develop an overall understanding of products in assigned programs.
  • Assist in execution of the programs strategic plan.

Certification Programs

  • Manage product testing with certification participants and third-party laboratories to ensure accurate and timely completion of market surveillance testing.
  • Oversee new applicants in the qualification process of certification programs.
  • Develop executable plans to evaluate, and select which units need to be tested in each program.
  • Verify testing process is conducted in accordance with governing documents.

Standards

  • Recognize interest in, determine need for, and manage the development of a new standard.
  • Promote and educate the industry in the value of AHRI rating standards.
  • Work with technical working groups to develop new and update existing Performance rating standards and guidelines.
  • Support the development and track progress of ASHRAE method of tests.

Regulatory and Government Affairs

  • Support AHRI Regulatory and Government Affairs Department staff in convening meetings with members and providing subject matter information about laws and regulations affecting the HVACR industry.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent degree from an accredited college/university (Mechanical Engineering emphasis preferred).
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in the HVACR industry.
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated supervisory experience.

AHRI offers a full benefits package with alternate workplace options and a friendly work environment. The salary hiring range for this position is $110,000-$130,000.
